Eli Stokols on Trump Admin’s Demands of Names of Fulton Co. 2020 Election Staff: This Is an AG in an Interim Role Trying to Satisfy the Boss
EXCERPT:
STOKOLS: "I think the other thing that you can’t underestimate in terms of the context and why this is happening now, Stuart mentioned Todd Blanche, the acting attorney general. One of the reasons Pam Bondi was fired by the president, I’m told by senior White House officials, was that the president felt that she wasn’t doing enough. There wasn’t enough action on things that matter to the president. We all know, the president makes it obvious, that he’s never going to get over the 2020 election and the Georgia results in particular. And so, this is an attorney general who is in an interim role trying to satisfy the boss with action, with the action that the president wants to see. That’s obviously completely antithetical to the history of the Justice Department being an independent federal agency. But that’s where we are. And I think that’s a big reason why you’re seeing what you’re seeing right now.”
