Allysia Finley on Data Center and Electricity Costs: There’s No Correlation Between the Two, They’re Required to Build Their Own Power Generators

Now, there is a concern the additional demand from these data centers and they do require a lot of energy for instance just one query uses about 1000 times as much power as one Google search for so put that in perspective. These data centers will impose increasing strains on the grid requiring more power generation thereby causing prices to increase for there is some kind of a movement among the states to require these data centers to build their own power generation. A lot of the data centers and hyper scalars are doing that anyway because they are facing huge wait times to connect so it’s actually in their best interest to build their own natural gas generators."
