Sen. Coons: Pete Hegseth Is Being ‘Dangerously Disrespectful of the Basic Rules of War’
‘He is not taking responsibility for the strike that killed 175 civilians’
RUSH EXCERPT:
COONS: "Look, he’s being dangerously disrespectful of the basic rules of war and of how we should conduct ourselves in a war. He is not taking responsibility for the strike that killed 175 civilians, many of them schoolchildren. And frankly, before this war began, he largely dismissed the staff and closed down the civilian protection center in the office of the secretary of defense, the former chairman of the joint chiefs, general brown, advised against that, according to press accounts, before he was fired. And I think that secretary Hegseth's rhetoric about maximum lethality and no quarter is directly connected to how he has been leading this war on behalf of the Pentagon and our military.”
