GOP Sen. Lankford: Democrats Don’t See Iran as a Threat, But ICE Is a Threat to Them

LANKFORD: “So, here’s what’s actually happening. Democrats are blocking funding for the Department of Homeland Security. They’re not paying people. That is causing folks to call in and say, hey, I’ve got to have a paycheck, so I’m picking up a second job, so they can actually get it. We have thousands of people that have been furloughed working cyber security, which is one of the primary issues with the Iranian regime in the past, has reached out to be able to attack folks, has been on the cyber world on that. We have the vast majority of our cyber security folks that are right now on furlough because Democrats are mad at ICE. Literally, Democrats hate ICE enforcement more than they’re frustrated with Iran. They don’t see Iran as a threat, but they do see ICE as a threat. That is the difference between the two parties, and it could not be more stark. We see that ICE is actually allies of the United States. These are federal agents doing their job to be able to protect the country, and Iran is the threat. They don’t see Iran as a threat, ICE is the threat to them.”
