Barbara Comstock on Fed Chair Powell’s Probe: Congress Won’t Stop Trump, ‘They’re Afraid He Might Tweet Against Them’

‘We need an independent fed, that’s what everyone’s been saying’

EXCERPT:

COMSTOCK: “I would point out that Chairman Powell has been, you know, very solid about pointing out his tariffs are what is hurting the economy. And that's why it's been so difficult to, you know, know, you know, he sends the economy, you know, every day when he comes out and he's going to do another tariff. You don't know what he's going to send the economy, you know, going up or down, because you never know what he's going to do from one day to the next. And that makes it hard for people to decide where and how to invest. If he's going to put a tariff on one country or not the next day, or tell you to invest in India or Korea or China. And then the next day he says, no, never mind, you can't because I'm going to put a tariff there. How can anybody make, you know, economic big investments, when you don't know what this man who's, you know, running -- he wants to run it unilaterally. And then you have a Congress who won't stop him, who's given up all their Article I authority, because they're afraid he might tweet against them.”
