AG Keith Ellison: The Reason That Trump Is Targeting Minnesota Is Because ‘We Welcome Immigrants’

ELLISON: "You know, you know, rev, I really got to answer you this way. I would argue that the reason that Trump is targeting Minnesota is because of Minnesota. We welcome immigrants. He, on the other hand, targets immigrants. We want we have we’re he’s the one who believes that rich people don’t have enough money. Everyone else has too much money. We, on the other hand, believe in shared prosperity. In fact, every school kid in Minnesota gets free lunch at breakfast and breakfast, and we have a commitment to an opportunity ladder that is very broad. That includes a lot of people. We believe in unions. We believe in immigrants, we believe in clean economy. And because we we believe in holding people accountable like Derek Chauvin. And so and so, our values are 180 degrees different between Minnesota and and that’s why we’ve never voted for him. He’s also very upset about that. He said to your colleague in the media that the reason that he doesn’t want to cooperate with Minnesota enforcement officials is because we’re corrupt and we’re corrupt because we’ve never voted for him, although he believes he won Minnesota, that’s his evidence that we’re corrupt because we didn’t vote for him. And so this is the we have a very different set of values that that make him target our state. But we’re going to keep being the open, inclusive people who we are. And I and I hope he changes the person that he is. You’re a reverend, you know, maybe say a prayer for him or something."
