AG Ellison on ICE Shooting: It’s Strange That They Won’t Give Access to the Investigation, But Leak a Tape They Think It’s to Their Benefit

‘That seems to me fundamentally unprofessional’

RUSH EXCERPT:
ELLISON: "You know, I’ll tell you this. I think that it is beyond strange that the federal government is saying that it will not give the state access to the investigative file in critical evidence, like the car and bullet casings and other things, and yet they will leak out tape that they think is to their benefit. That seems to me fundamentally unprofessional way to conduct an investigation. It seems fundamentally unfair and wrong as it relates to this matter. If you’re going to release and be disclosive of information, do the whole thing. If you’re not going to do that, then don’t. but to leak out things you think are to your advantage to me is deeply, deeply dishonest and disingenuous. I again repeat my call for them to start cooperating. Start with a joint investigation. Having said that, I’m reluctant to characterize the evidence. I want to see all the videos together, but I will tell you that it is not a safe assumption that that video somehow supports the narrative that jd Vance wants to put forward. There are a lot of other interpretations which are very problematic for the agent as it relates to the agent’s conduct. I’m not going to go further than that. I’m not. I don’t want to do exactly what I’m telling the federal government that they should not do. But I will say that trying to claim that that is some sort of clear indication that the officer operated properly. Properly, that is a that is a dubious proposition."
