Zeleny on Whether Jasmine Crockett Can End Dems Losing Streak in Texas: It‘s Far from Certain, ‘If She Has the Majority View’
EXCERPT:
ZELENY: “There are many Democrats who have long thought that Texas next year is going to be the one. The next cycle is going to be the one. It hasn't happened yet. The reality is, it raises a question, we don't know the answer, what type of Democrat can win? Is it better to have a progressive to fire at the progressive base, or is it better to have more of a moderate? And even though Beto O'Rourke was a progressive, he was still able to appeal to some moderates as well. He was not nearly sort of out there as much. So, we shall see. But there's a Democrat running as well. James Talarico, who's a very talented young state lawmaker. So that's what primaries are about to figure out what direction the party wants to go. But it's far from certain, if she has the majority view.”
