Maura Gillespie on Trump’s Health: The Hypocrisy Is Running Rampant, the W.H. Will Put Forth a Strong Show
RUSH EXCERPT:
GILLESPIE: "We may already be there. I think the hypocrisy is just it’s running rampant and it’s not necessarily surprising, but it is frustrating because, you know, we had this conversation about Joe Biden, and I understand the White House is going to defend the president as well. They should. That is their job. They are going to defend him and want to put forth a strong show. They want to make sure people think that he is in control and that he is making the decisions, because that’s their job, and I understand that. But this is also on us as voters. We had a situation where our two choices were between two oxygen carriers, and so we need to do a better job of elevating members who are either running for office or who are strong leaders in their communities. Because age is a factor. It’s not necessarily a blanket statement to say that everyone who is 75 up is incapable of this job. That’s not what I’m saying. But I think we need to be taking a good, hard look at the cognitive, but also the physical toll that the job of the White House takes, you know, on anyone who becomes president, it does take a toll on you. And if you’re already in a decline or already aging and rapidly at this pace, you’re going to only more so rapidly age. This job is not easy."
