Michael McFaul: The New START Treaty, an Achievement of the Obama Admin, Got Rid of 30% of Nuclear Weapons in the World
EXCERPT:
MCFAUL: “I am. The New START Treaty, that was a great achievement in the Obama Administration. I worked on that as a White House official. We got rid of 30 percent of the nuclear weapons in the world. I think that‘s good for America and good for the world. And the president should, instead of thinking about nuclear testing again, he should try to figure out how to stretch that treaty out. It expires next year. And, Jake, you know my views on Vladimir Putin and his horrific atrocious war of imperialism in Ukraine. And we should be doing more to push back on that. I wish the president would give the Ukrainians more and better missiles. But at the same time, I still think it‘s in everyone‘s interest to continue the New START Treaty, and the president should focus on that rather than talking about new nuclear tests.”
