Abby Phillip Says There’s Polling Blaming Republicans More for the Shutdown

‘It’s really risky for the shutdown to continue longer than a couple of weeks’

EXCERPT:

PHILLIP: "Well, look, I think both parties are getting some blame. I think there’s been some polling that suggests that — that more Americans actually blame Republicans for the shutdown. So, we’ll see. I mean, this has been the quietest shutdown I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve experienced a lot of shutdowns at this point, in the sense that I think it’s gotten much less attention than normal. I think people are kind of used to the drama. But at the same time, the longer it goes on, the more paychecks people are going to miss. I think it’s really risky for the shutdown to continue longer than a couple of weeks because, you know, two weeks, you miss a paycheck and that’s a family not having money to pay for food and all of that stuff. So, we’ll see how it goes. I think public opinion can shift, but right now a little bit of blame for Democrats, a little bit more blame for Republicans, and a lot of people blaming both sides. So, yeah, we’ll see how it goes."
