Cornell Belcher on Deportations: We’re Seeing ‘Main Street White People’ Have Skin in the Game and They Don’t Like It
EXCERPT:
BELCHER: “And Joe Rogan is coming — is coming along with this. And, look, you’re hearing in other parts of the country, and look, I think you’ve interviewed, like, you know, farmers who are having a hard time bringing in crops. You know, as an African American at this moment, I want to sit back and say, you know what? Now you have skin in this game, something that we’ve been wanting for a long time. This is xenophobia, this is bigotry. This is Replacement Theory at work. And what we’ve wanted for a long time is for Main Street - calling it what it is — Main Street white people to have skin in this game. And perhaps now we’re seeing with the hurt and the harm that’s being done all across the country, that Main Street white people have a skin in this game and they don’t like it. I hope this — I hope it’s a moment.”
