And I think part of it is that assumes that they still matter going forward, that they care about voters. And I think that’s part of the scary moment that we’re in right now, this incredible consolidation of power around authoritarianism means that they are less accountable. And we’re seeing that play out with Congress, right? I mean, in theory, Trump is a lame duck president, and yet nobody — everybody in his party is still acting like he’s a first term, couple months in, top of — top of the popularity polls, that their political fortunes will be, in some ways evaporated if they were to challenge the incumbent president. He’s a lame duck, and yet nobody is acting that way in his party.”
