Reuters’ Mason on the W.H.’s Televised Cabinet Meeting: Trump’s a Former Reality TV Star and Likes Reporters and Cameras Available to Him
RUSH EXCERPT:
MASON: "Well, I’ll take the second question first. The president almost always televises his cabinet meetings. It’s something that he did during his first term. I remember being in one of the first ones that he had during his first term. And the reporters who were accustomed, at least those of us who covered President Obama, who were accustomed to being kicked out of the room after just an opening statement, were shocked that we got to stay that long. No one is shocked anymore. And I don’t I didn’t find this shocking either. This is what he does. He’s a former reality television star and he very much likes the reality television aspect of having a number of reporters and cameras available to him for meetings like this. To your first part of your question, what we saw with the cabinet members is, is just the mo of what it means to work for President Trump. And by the way, it’s also what foreign leaders have learned that to get the president to take you seriously, you have to flatter him. And that is exactly what his cabinet does. And that is what increasingly we’re seeing a lot of foreign leaders do in order to get in the room with them."
