MSNBC’s Eugene Daniels: Big-City Mayors Are Democrats’ Best Messengers on Fighting Crime
RUSH EXCERPT:
DANIELS: “You know, what’s interesting is when I went to write this column, I was thinking, okay, how should Democrats thread the needle on people’s feelings about crime and what the facts say? And how should they do that in 2026? And I was talking to mayor Brandon Scott of Baltimore. And you know what he told me instead? And this is for you young journalists out there. Pay attention to your sources and they might give you a better idea was that the Democrats should lean on the people who are already doing the work and let them tell the story. And so that’s what it kind of became, is that the messengers are almost as important, if not more important than the message. And so what he told me is they need to lean on the mayors who are actually doing the work because, you know, with all due respect, Chuck Schumer ain’t got to worry about, you know, crime dealing with crime. Hakeem Jeffries doesn’t have to worry about that. The people that have to do that are the mayor.”
