Mollie Hemingway: Every Weekend in Chicago, You Get Stories of Shootings, Rapes, Robberies, But the ‘Mayor Is Not Concerned About It’

‘I think most Americans would like to see local law enforcement being able to tackle the crime problem’

RUSH EXCERPT:
HEMINGWAY: "I think most Americans would like to see local law enforcement being able to tackle the crime problem and having the tools necessary to do that. The problem is the mayor of Chicago has shown very little, if no interest, and tackling the crime problem, which again is popular with a certain subset the population, but it’s the people committing the crimes not those who are victims of it. Every weekend in Chicago get stories of shootings, murders, rapes, robberies, and the mayor is not concerned about it. I think one of the problems of how well it has gone for D.C., which as jacqui noted, has this particular different legal authority that enables Trump to come through, it is working, crime is decreasing. It shows what happens when you address a problem and put resources behind it. It’s going to make it much harder for Democrat mayors to say there is nothing you can do when you can so easily see it working in a different place."
