Andrew Cuomo: We Don’t Need the National Guard in NYC
‘If we thought we needed the National Guard in New York City, then governor can call out the National Guard’
EXCERPT:
CUOMO: “No, we don’t need the National Guard in New York City. If we thought we needed the National Guard in New York City, then the governor can call out the National Guard, or the mayor can ask the governor to call out the National Guard. As governor of New York for 11 years, there were many times that I did use the National Guard in New York City. And there are some National Guard deployed now in the New York City subway system and we deployed the National Guard when we needed them during a hurricane, a storm or if there was a massive demonstration, etcetera. But no, we don’t need federal intervention in the day-to-day management of New York City.”
