Andrew Cuomo: No Conversations with Trump About Mayor’s Race

‘If President Trump wants to work with New York City, obviously the job of mayor would be to work cooperatively’

EXCERPT:

CUOMO: “Yeah, no, absolutely not. And I’ve said that a number of times. And the president has said a number of times he’s not going to get involved in the mayoral race. Mamdani wants to use President Trump as the boogeyman in New York, right? This is New York. It’s a blue state. President Trump is not popular in New York, so Zohran is trying to use Trump as the boogeyman to rally Democratic support. What I said was I believe, at the end of the day, Republicans are going to have to make a choice, right, in this election, and it’s basically going to be between me and Zohran Mamdani, a socialist, and I think I am going to be very competitive with Republicans and with independents. I’m now a moderate Democrat, right? I used to be a progressive Democrat, but the socialists now call me moderate Democrat. So, I think I will be competitive with the Republicans and the independents in this election. I believe in law and order.”
