Sen. Coons: ‘I Hope and Pray’ that Kash Patel Is Not Misusing the FBI for Political Purposes

‘I voted against Kash Patel to be the FBI director because I was concerned he would not resist pressure from President Trump’

EXCERPT:

COONS: "I agree with that statement. Look, it is possible that there is some ongoing national security investigation about the retention of classified documents. Obviously, President Trump himself kept and mishandled huge amounts of highly classified documents in his Mar-a-Lago home, and there were subsequent investigations. So, it‘s possible that there is a legitimate basis. And given that a judge had to sign off on this search warrant, we should keep an open mind. But the timing is very suspect. I voted against Kash Patel to be the FBI director because I was concerned he would not resist pressure from President Trump to misuse the FBI for partisan political purposes. I hope and pray that‘s not what‘s going on here, but the timing of the exchanges between Bolton and Trump, and the public nature of this search, make this particularly suspect."
