‘I’ve Thrown My Hat in the Ring’: Chip Roy Announces Run for Texas Attorney General

‘I want to go back home and use my talents and skills as a lawyer’

EXCERPT:

ROY: “Well, you’ll appreciate this as a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, you know how important the Office of the Attorney General is. And so, I’ve thrown my hat in the ring to run for Attorney General of Texas at the end of the term. I’m currently serving my fourth term representing the 21st Congressional District. I will have served for eight years. I don’t think we need permanent legislators. I think we need people that are willing to, you know, turn that over and let someone else now go represent the fine people of the Hill Country. But I want to come back home and use my talents and skills as a lawyer, as a former federal prosecutor, as the former First Assistant Attorney General of Texas, as someone who serves on the House Judiciary Committee, is the chairman of the Constitution subcommittee. And I want to go fight for Texas and I want to do it in the courtroom. I want to do it alongside the great men and women in blue, our law enforcement.”
