L.A. Mayor Bass: It’s Overreach of Presidential Powers for Trump to Take Over Law Enforcement in City that Hasn’t Requested Help

‘That is an abuse of our troops’

EXCERPT:

BASS: “And I believed then and I believe now that Los Angeles was a test case, and I think D.C. is a test case as well for the president to say, well, we can take over your city whenever we want, and I’m the commander-in-chief and I can use the troops whenever we want. I think that that is an abuse of our troops. And I think it’s an overreach of presidential powers for the president to literally take over law enforcement in a city that has not requested the help. And it’s not as though — I mean, the protests that happened in Los Angeles were over about maybe one square mile of a 500-square-mile city. Wasn’t appropriate. Wasn’t needed.”
