Mary Katharine Ham Slams Mamdani’s Comments Following NYC Midtown Shooting: ‘He’s Full of It’

‘Mamdani has been very clear about where he stood on the NYPD’

EXCERPT:

HAM: “For him, he's full of it. And it seems quite obvious, to me, and likely to many people who are familiar with his past statements. Mamdani has been very clear about where he stood on the NYPD, sometimes even going beyond calling them wicked and corrupt or anti-queer or racist or a major threat to public safety, but also mocking officers who, in one tweet, someone had noticed that an officer was upset in his patrol car, and he laughed at that online. Right? This is beyond just thinking that the organization needs to be reformed or that you can tweak the way you deal with policing in the city. Those are critiques. This -- what he was talking about was different. And I just think that it's very obvious and cynical what he's doing. Now, some people might buy it. Frankly, he didn't seem like he was buying it in that clip that you guys just showed where he paused and was trying to figure out how to -- how to pivot so violently on this, because it's really hard to do, because I think he actually believes what he said in 2020.”
