Ron Vitiello: Sanctuary Laws Are ‘Destructive Policy,’ Contrary to Law, Public Safety
EXCERPT:
VITIELLO: “Well, these policies are destructive. The mayor was leaning in to help. You’ll remember, Tom went down there. The Secretary has been very forceful on the idea that she put out her hand yesterday in leadership saying, hey, let’s fix this problem with sanctuary cities. What are these cities trying to do? These people are in the country illegally and they’ve committed crimes against the citizens of New York. We’re grateful that that officer used his training to save himself and his friend. And we’re also grateful for the first responders that helped save him in this area. But we — this is a totally preventable crime. These two individuals have been in the country for a very short time. They were released at the border and they committed chaos all over New York and in Massachusetts in the one case. And so, these people don’t deserve to be here. We didn’t invite them here. And when they get arrested for other crimes in communities, they should be turned over to ICE so they can be removed.”
