Donna Brazile: Dems Should Continue to Focus on Healthcare, It’s Going to Be the Belly of the Beast

BRAZILE: “When you don’t control the Congress, as you all know, and you have slim majorities in both the house and the Senate, there’s no way the Democrats can come up with a different recipe when all of the ingredients are put forward by President Trump. This may be winning in the short-term if you define winning as people losing health care, by children not being able to have a good meal at lunch, if you define winning by short-changing the American people in terms of pollution and climate change. It’s not winning in the long-term. It is a short-term gain pour what Donald Trump campaigned on. So elections have consequences. Chris, you are absolutely right. Democrats should continue to focus on this health care. This is really going to be the Belly of the beast when it comes to what this bill will do to our country. In my home state of Louisiana, 267,000 Americans will be forced off their Medicaid. Over 60% of them meet the work requirements, but 30% are in nursing holes. They’re disabled. They are not able to go to work, and yet this bill makes no provisions. So while it may be an incremental way in which this budget will go into effect, but long-term it’s going to hurt America.”
