Rep. Mike Lawler: ‘Illegal Immigrants Should Not Be Collecting Medicaid Benefits’
EXCERPT:
LAWLER: "CBO has been wrong on so many things over the years. They undercut — they undercut revenue on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, for instance, by a trillion dollars. So, CBO has been wrong for many years and that’s fine. But the bottom line here is this. The Medicaid changes that were made, okay, number one, eligibility verification, if you’re ineligible to receive Medicaid benefits, you should not continue to collect them. Under the Biden Administration, they eased those requirements and allowed people to collect benefits that they were not entitled to for over a year’s time. They allowed people to be registered in two states. That’s wrong. Illegal immigrants should not be collecting Medicaid benefits. In New York, you have billions of dollars being spent on illegal immigrants and Medicaid benefits. That is fundamentally wrong, and Americans do not support that. Work requirements: able-bodied adults should be trying to get a job, go to school, or volunteer up to 80 hours a month, not a week."
