White House: Taxes Are Lower Today than Under Reagan, Eisenhower

"The president’s proud of that record and that has had an impact on the tax rate that is paid by the median family here in the United States. Many of you will note if you’re looking closely at the numbers, and we can pass these out for those of you that are on the — unfortunate at the wrong side of the podium here, that the average tax rate or that the tax rate that is paid by the median family in the United States today is paying about half the tax rate that the median family paid under President Reagan."
