STEELE: “So there’s no wonder you have nine Republicans still sitting there going, 'Dude, I gotta go back home tomorrow. What are you talking about? I can’t — I can’t vote for this. Otherwise, I don’t come back in January of 2027.' Which is the other, probably the third reality that’s coming to hit some folks upside the head, just how precarious their position is in the House right now. And it’s largely because they’ve been driven by the — I guess the idea of Donald Trump that he needs to have this, because the reality says, no, you don’t need to do this right now. And you’ve got — you’ve got till September, October. I mean, you’ve gone beyond the budgetary process before. Why rush now? And so he’s put — Donald Trump has put his members in a very tough spot, and that’s largely because he doesn’t care about the consequences to them. He’s only concerned about his ability to get a win and to prove that he owns this town. And a lot of members may give him that, but they won’t be back in January of ‘27."
