Claudia Tenney: ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ Has the Largest Mandatory Spending Cuts in American History

‘There’s not a single Republican in the House or the Senate that doesn’t think we need to cut spending and make sure we do it’

EXCERPT:

TENNEY: “So, Cheryl, here we are about to pass a bill that has the largest mandatory spending cuts in American history. It’s really important that we emphasize 'mandatory,' because we have never done that, and we have 1.6 almost 1.7 trillion in there. That has to be done. And understand something: It has taken decades of spending to get us where we are today with this debt and deficit catastrophe. If we were to try to fix that overnight or even in a year or two, you could see a real problem and carnage across our nation to the economy. What we want to do is bring this back in a more gradual way and make sure that we don’t harm the small businesses and the middle- and lower-income taxpayers who benefited from the original Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, make sure we renew that, which is the most important part of this bill. This is what the Ways and Means Committee focused on. Right now we have a long-term plan, which we need to do, there’s not a single Republican in the House or the Senate that doesn’t think we need to cut spending and make sure that we do it. We cannot do it overnight.”
