LAWLER: “Well, look, you have an avowed socialist who is running to be mayor of the financial capital of the world, New York City. He has denounced capitalism. He says he wants to eliminate billionaires. He wants to freeze the rent. He wants government-run grocery stores. He wants free bussing and mass transit. And yet, who’s paying for all of this? As Margaret Thatcher said, the problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other people’s money. And that’s exactly what will happen. You will see a mass exodus out of New York City. New York State already leads the nation in out migration. We have the highest tax burden, the worst business climate. You’ve seen a decline in the quality of life under Kathy Hochul and one-party Democratic rule. You throw in an avowed socialist who supports the BDS movement, who will — who refuses to denounce ‘globalize the intifada,’ who says he wants to arrest foreign leaders who come to New York with whom he disagrees, including Bibi Netanyahu, it is absolutely insane.”
