Robert Garcia: ‘If You Are Born in America, You’re an American’

‘This idea that we’re not going to honor birthright citizenship and have a different kind of pattern of laws across our country is crazy’

EXCERPT:

GARCIA: “Look, that was a obviously horrific decision out of the Supreme Court. And one piece of it, of course, is not just the unchecked power of the presidency, but what it actually means to someone that's actually born in this country. If you are born in America, you are an American. And this idea that we’re not going to honor birthright citizenship and have a different kind of pattern of laws across our country is crazy. And yet, at the same time, this empowers Donald Trump to have more authority to essentially, in my opinion, cause all these unconstitutional actions and continue to break the law across the country. And so it’s really a shame that this Supreme Court is doing this. We know, of course, it’s a conservative court. It’s one that Donald Trump put in place, but it’s one that has to be called out. We’ve got to continue to push back against the actions of the courts to protest, to be out in the streets peacefully, and hopefully stop this mega bill that’s going through the Congress right now."
