Dan Hoffman: ‘Important to Emphasize President Trump Is Not Talking About Boots on the Ground or Regime Change’ in Iran
EXCERPT:
HOFFMAN: “I think it’s important to emphasize that President Trump is not talking about U.S. boots on the ground or regime change. He is dealing with Iran’s threat to the region and to U.S. national security. It’s got three aspects to it: the first, the nuclear program, which we took out this evening, we hope; secondly, the Iran’s ballistic missile program which Israel has decimated, and then Iran’s proxy terrorist network. That’s why President Trump withdrew from the JCPOA. It was a bad deal that even Democrats, including Senator Chuck Schumer, wouldn’t sign on to. I think that was the motivation now to deal with this challenge once and for all. As far as whether Iranians inside the country might turn to regime change on their own organically, now is probably their best chance ever since 1979. With the regime as weak as it is, Israel has deliberately targeted Iranian military officials and largely spared civilians, perhaps with the hope that civilians may usurp control from the military.”
