Robert O’Brien: Trump Has Done a ‘Master Class’ in America-First Diplomacy

O’BRIEN: “My first take, Martha, and thanks for having me on, President Trump is just doing a master class in America First diplomacy. I mean, he wants to keep us out of war. But at the same time he said, look, this enemy of America, Iran, which the regime started taking our diplomats hostage for 444 days in ‘79, they followed up in ‘82 with the bombing of the embassy in Beirut and the Marine barracks, Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia. And then they killed hundreds of our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan with IEDs. You know, he said, this enemy cannot — they chant ‘death to America.’ They personally threatened to kill President Trump. And I was saying all of this. He said, I’ll negotiate with them, but they can’t have a nuclear weapon. We can’t have these people who hate us and hate Israel get a nuclear bomb because they’ve shown what they’ll do if they have that capability. But short of that, he’s offered Iran a terrific deal. He said, you can come back to the world economy. You can — we’ll lift sanctions. We’ll do all kinds of things that are good for the Iranian people. But you can’t have a nuclear bomb. You got to give up your enrichment.”
