Dan Goldman: Republicans ‘Need to Be Careful Allowing the Executive Branch to Completely Overrun Congress’

GOLDMAN: "Well, we certainly are planning on doing it. I find it interesting that Republicans have expressed concern about that. I have not heard that from anyone. Maybe you have better sources than I do on the other side of the aisle. But what they need to realize is that this goes back and forth. Turnabout is fair play, and they need to be careful allowing the executive branch to completely overrun Congress, to completely usurp all Article I power. And now to start arresting members, to go into members' offices and handcuff staff members, I witnessed last week a number of ICE agents arrest immigrants whose cases were dismissed by the government so that they could then be put in expedited removal. And these ICE agents in my district office building in Lower Manhattan just waited for these people to come down, who were following the proper processes, so that they could arrest them and remove them. The lawlessness — they were using — they had masks on — and the overreach is getting more and more aggressive.”
