Congressman Raskin: The Trump Admin Think They Can Strip the Courts of Their Power to Coerce Compliance

‘They’ve really done it this time because the power of courts to hold people in contempt is an inherent power’

RUSH EXCERPT:
RASKIN: "Well, look, they’ve really done it this time because the power of courts to hold people in contempt is an inherent power of the court. So it’s unconstitutional to try to strip that away. I mean, go back and read marbury versus Madison, which says there’s no right without a remedy, and there’s no remedy unless the court can enforce its orders. So now facing 170 preliminary injunctions and temporary restraining orders against this reign of terror and lawlessness across the federal government, the Trump Administration can only think to try to strip the courts of their power to coerce compliance with their orders. And so that’s why they’ve tucked that in there. And it’s got to come out or it will be struck down. It must be struck down because it’s an attempt essentially to decapitate the judicial Branch of government."
