Marc Short: Higher Tariffs on EU than in China Is a ‘Pretty Weak Approach’ Towards China

‘I do think he used tariffs as leverage during the first administration as well on steel, on aluminum, but principally to, I think, rally the globe against China’

EXCERPT:

SHORT: “And I think also, Phil, you know, if it’s 50 percent on E.U., that’s actually higher than it is on Communist China now that he’s put forward. So, I think there’s also a weakening about what his position is on China as opposed to isolating China. You’re now alleging tariffs higher on the European Union, that has been our ally in looking to isolate China. You have a higher tariff on E.U. than you do on China. And as you know, the president has refused to enforce the law on TikTok. So, it certainly seems like it’s a pretty weak approach to China right now.”
