Sharpton on George Floyd: If We Do Not Continue to Hope and Fight, It Will Only Happen Again

‘We’ve always had mountains and valleys’

RUSH EXCERPT:
SHARPTON: "The reason they must keep that hope is because if we do not continue to hope and fight, it will only happen again to you, your child, your relative. So it’s not that we have an option, it’s that we are mandated to keep going. Imagine how hopeless it was after the March on Washington in 1963, and here in Martin Luther King made that great speech. I have a dream. And a few weeks later they bombed a church in Birmingham and killed four girls in Sunday school. We’ve always had mountains and valleys, and it is really a test to our will when we see how we get through the valleys of where it looks dark. It’s easy to smile on the mountaintop. It’s hard when you’re in the valley, but that’s where real change is made."
