Sen. Smith: DoJ Dropping the George Floyd Agreements Is a Slap in the Face and It’s Offensive

‘Trump is walking away from his constitutional responsibilities’

RUSH EXCERPT:
SMITH: "Well, I think Mr. Crump is exactly right. This is a slap in the face. It is offensive to everybody in my community who wants to see our police department and our our justice system move, move towards more justice and more fairness. And you and I both have seen the anguish and the anger and the moral outrage because of what happened to George floyd. And of course, what happened in Minnesota just a year or two later with with Daunte Wright. You were at that funeral and it’s it is outrageous to basically say the Justice Department is going to refuse to ensure that people’s constitutional rights are protected. And at the same time, reverend sharpton, I, I know that we will continue to work towards more justice in minneapolis and we are making some progress. It is not fast enough. It is right to be impatient with the pace of change. But we will not just stop doing the work that we need to do to make our policing and our justice system more fair in my community, because Donald Trump is walking away from his constitutional responsibilities."
