Baker on the NSC Firings: There’s a Belief That the Staff Can’t Be Trusted, Therefore Shouldn’t Be There

‘There’s been a long-standing suspicion on his part that people at the NSC are not really loyal MAGA people, which is not what their job is supposed to be’

RUSH EXCERPT:
BAKER: "Well, there’s still mixed reports about exactly how. Many will. Be let. Go or. Pushed away. You know, we’re. Hearing is whole directorates. Will be gutted. They basically only have like a senior director over a lot of the different sections, geographic sections that are currently there without a lot of. Staff underneath them. Over the. Years. The nsc has grown substantially, and there have been other presidents who tried to shrink its staff, try to bring it back down to. A more restrained size so that you can have the State Department, defense department and the other agencies take the lead on foreign policy, that sense that nsc has outgrown itself, you know, is a common one that crosses party lines. In this case, though, I think with Trump it’s more about a belief in loyalty and a belief that the people on this staff, including career officials, people who’ve given their lives to public service, can’t be trusted and therefore shouldn’t be there. We’ll see, obviously, who gets let go and how it works out, but there’s been a long standing suspicion on his part that people at the nsc staff are not really loyal MAGA people, which is not what their job is supposed to be in the first place."
