Jeffrey Toobin: Foreign Students Choosing Universities Outside America Is a ‘Big Loss’ to America
‘Why don‘t we go to some other school where there‘s less controversy or go to another another country?’
EXCERPT:
TOOBIN: “You know, I do think so. I do think Harvard would win a challenge. But remember, the damage will accrue to Harvard even if they win, because students around the world are going to say to themselves, why do we want to put ourselves up for this kind of danger, aggravation? Why Don’t We go to some other school where there’s less controversy or go to another country? I mean, that’s what’s really going on here. It’s going on with tourists. It’s going on with students. They are worried about how foreigners are treated in the United States. So why not go to college at Oxford instead of Harvard? And that’s, you know, that’s a big loss to this country.”
