Henry Winkler: Somebody in Washington Just Said that the ‘Problem with America’ Is Empathy ... ‘My Goodness’
‘How can you live without empathy?’
EXCERPT:
WINKLER: "How nuts is this? Somebody a little while ago in Washington said the problem with America, the problem with you, is that you have empathy. And I thought to myself, okay, you can live a life, you can acquire things, you can fill your house and fill your lawn and fill a warehouse. That’s great. But you cannot live a rich life, the life that you — with giving your love, receiving your love from your family, the family you’re going to start, maybe even a stranger that you meet on a line waiting for a plane. You never know. How can you live without empathy? Oh, my goodness!"
