TAPPER: "Some of that started in the first year of the presidency because of Covid, obviously, for health reasons. But we found that there was a concerted effort, starting in basically like mid to late 2023, when we think the serious deterioration of his cognitive functions began, that there was a serious effort to just keep him away from cabinet officials, top Democrats in Congress, even White House staffers. This came from those people I‘m talking about. We have a cabinet secretary in the book talking about how there was an effort after the last cabinet meeting in October 2023, for almost a year, that there was an effort to keep him away. And then that cabinet secretary saw President Biden one more time in person before the debate and said he was completely out of it, completely disoriented in this one private meeting."
