Tezlyn Figaro: The Dem Party Is Failing to Reach All Demographics, Not Many Folks in There That Look Like Me

FIGARO: "If [AOC] wants to run, you know, God bless her, let her get out there and run, but the Democratic Party is absolutely failing to reach all demographics. If you look at the rallies that AOC and Bernie Sanders are having, there’s not many folks in there that look like me. That was one of the issues that progressives had as far as making sure they reach across all demographics. And I know a lot of folks will say, 'Oh, they have plenty of people of color,' but no community that I organize in is talking about being excited about AOC. That's just the truth. I think she’s a strong voice, I think she’s a great leader, but the leader really has to come from the grassroots, not an elected official. Clearly, they failed, so let’s go to the grassroots, let’s see who’s available on the bench now. And that’s something the Democratic Party is not doing. They're not training. They aren’t bringing up new leadership. They are just circling the wagons with the same old leadership over and over. That goes for Bernie Sanders, too.”
