Dan Goldman: ‘A Kerfuffle Would Never Be Charged in a Million Years Under Any Other DoJ’
EXCERPT:
GOLDMAN: "Well, President Nixon never signed an executive order directing the Department of Justice to investigate political dissenters, people who worked in his administration and then turned on him. Donald Trump has done that. President Nixon abided by the Supreme Court’s decision when they said that he had to turn over the tapes. Donald Trump is not following the Supreme Court’s decision on due process. And now we’re seeing egregious politicization of the Department of Justice to avoid traditional requirements to keep it apolitical, to keep it from being politicized, and charging a member of Congress with what we all see on TV. If it was a kerfuffle, would never be charged in a million years under any other Department of Justice. And so that is a dissension of the Department of Justice way, way, way below where Watergate was. And it’s the worst, I think, certainly in my, you know, understanding of the department for decades."
