David Hogg: We’re Not Looking to Challenge People with Incredible Legacies Like Congressman Clyburn
EXCERPT:
HOGG: “I think what we’re trying to do is make sure that we’re able to get to expand things like the Congressional Black Caucus. We’re not looking to challenge people that, you know, have incredible legacies, like Congressman Clyburn, for example. And I would also say, across the board, there are people with, you know, a wide array of views on these. And, look, I don’t take what people say to me personally, and I take that criticism and I listen to it. I — when I ran for the position of vice chair, I said one of the biggest problems with our party is that we do not tell people what they need to hear nearly enough, and instead we choose to tell them what they want to hear over and over again. And I try to take that in myself. Like, I'm — I wouldn’t say that I’ve ever been a perfect person by any means, but I’d also be clear in saying that what we’re looking to do here is make sure that we’re bringing in a generation of young people that is truly representative of our generation. That includes expanding things like the CBC, expanding things like the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and a whole lot more."
