Dr. Siegel on Biden’s Prostate Cancer: ‘It’s a Highly Testosterone Dependent Tumor and We Have Therapies for That’

‘There ways to decrease the body’s production or to signal the brain not to make the body produce’

EXCERPT:

SIEGEL: "Lisa, that means it’s the most aggressive. Gleason 9 means that it has a higher risk of spread, which we know it did it spread, and group 5 is the highest group in terms it wouldn’t look at it under the microscope, how aggressive it is. When they say that it's hormone-responsive, they are talking testosterone. That must mean that it’s highly testosterone-dependent tumor and we have therapies for that. There’s a new one called Orgovyx, there's Lupron, there's Casodex, there's ways to decrease the body’s production of a testosterone or even to signal the brain not to make the body produce testosterone. That could hopefully shrink this. Bone metastasis is the most likely. That’s where it goes right after it goes to the lymph nodes, it goes to the bone. If there is only a solitary one, they can target that, they can try radiation in addition. They might consider taking out the prostate as well."
