Calif. State Sen. Scott Weiner Claims the Sex Offender Registry Unfairly Targets the LGBTQ Community

WEINER: "We know that the sex offender registry contains a massive array of crimes, including, I don’t know, having sex in a car or in a park. That gets you on the sex offender registry. We also know that LGBTQ people have been massively and disproportionately targeted and subjected to being slammed onto the sex offender registry. That’s the whole history of the sex offender registry. So this aspect of the bill is incredibly overbroad and discriminatory."
