David Drucker: Nobody Wants To Put Their Neck on the Line Politically By Opposing Trump This Early

‘Trump still has a stronghold on the Republican Party when it comes to voters’

EXCERPT:

DRUCKER: “I think Republicans and Republicans that I’ve talked to are focused on the reconciliation package, right, that big legislative package of tax cuts and spending cuts and however they’re going to piece this together. Number one, it is the really single deliverable that Republicans in the House and Senate are going to have when they run for reelection next year. There’s not a lot of legislative activity between Congress and the White House, despite the Republican Party controlling both branches of government. And so it’s really all about this. And so much of what the president ran on is wrapped up in this, at least so much of what he ran on that he cannot do or doesn’t think he can do via executive order. Nobody wants to distract from that. Nobody wants to get in the way of that. I think that your question is important, but better asked once reconciliation is approved and off the table, particularly as we get into next January. But remember, Trump still has a stronghold on the Republican Party when it comes to voters. As we saw from Shaquille’s report, the Republican base supports Trump. They hold sway in Republican primaries, and nobody wants to put their neck on the line politically by opposing Trump this early."
