Charlie Dent: ‘Most People Feel Like Their Money Is Being Liberated from Their Pockets’

DENT: "Well, he could rescind his whole tariff policy. You know, he talks about liberation day. Well, you know, most people feel like their money is being liberated from their pockets. That would probably be the most important thing he could do to help himself. But remember, he believes strongly in these tariffs. And these tariffs, of course, are a massive tax increase on the American people. And they will impact not just consumers, all of us who who go to the grocery store or go to, you know, buy clothing. It’s affecting all of them, of course, but the farmers, I mean, just look at what they’re experiencing. They are losing market share in China and elsewhere. They’re going to need a bailout, to be sure. And there are so many others right now who are feeling it, you know, and the dollar has not responded the way most economists thought it would. They thought the dollar would actually get stronger as all this volatility was happening. But just the opposite has happened. It’s gotten weaker.”
