Strassel on Tariffs: I’m Not Expecting Some of Thesae Trde Deals To Be ‘Nearly as Sweeping’ as Trump Claims

‘He wants to be able to say he has sealed the deal’

RUSH EXCERPT:
STRASSEL: "What’s the deal suggest that yes by the deals suggested within the administration for making the argument this is very risky from a market perspective, you could see what’s happening the bond market and the dollar market that this needed a modulation. And so this to me as an exit ramp at right now the administration says 90 deals in 90 days. That is a wildly optimistic. Sometimes a trade deals in many cases can take yields to put together. I think they will speed that out. I’m not expecting to tell you some of the trade deals to be nearly as sweeping as Trump has billed them. I think that will say something too. He wants to be able to say he has sealed the deal. Say it is good for the country and move onto the next one. But, over all it means is voices in the administration that work counseling a little bit of a pullback here right now are the ones that have his ear."
