Cornell Belcher: Dems Will Keep the Issue of Republicans Trying to Take Away People’s Social Security Going into the Midterms

‘The fear of taking away or cutting Social Security is real, and it’s persuasive, and it moves voters and it energizes voters’

EXCERPT:

BELCHER: “No, because, you know, campaigns are won and lost by who dictates the debate. And clearly, when you look at the DSC — the DSCC’s ad, which I take, I take my friend’s point that it would have been more personal if grandma was doing it, but I just like the idea that they’re out there advertising right now and pushing this issue up front. So what you’re going to see from the campaign committees is you’re going to see them using their millions and millions of dollars to push this as an issue of concern and keep it out front. And you’re going to see campaigns come behind it as well. Because I can tell you right now, in poll testing that’s being done, there’s — you know, the hit on Republicans around the fear of taking away or cutting Social Security is real and is persuasive and it moves voters and it energizes voters. So you will see the Democrats spending money, time and effort to keep this issue on the front burner going into the midterms.”
